Why Button Wear Matters More Than You Think

What We Measure
Button depression depth, surface smoothness, and click consistency across all inputs. On a Ledger Nano S Plus, we typically see measurable wear after fourteen to eighteen months of daily pocket carry. Trezor Model One devices show similar patterns, though the button mechanism differs.
Why It Matters
A stiff or intermittently responsive button does not just annoy — it can cause incorrect PIN entry, triggering lockout timers or, in worst cases, factory reset prompts that panic inexperienced users. Replacing a device before button failure is far less stressful than recovering during an emergency.
What You Can Do
